Apperson Yearbook Pictures Needed!

We need your help! With the school year beginning virtually, we need you to email us your photos throughout the year. Below are ideas and types of photos we are looking for.  Feel free to send other types as well. Email them to: yearbook@appersonpta.com .
Please include the student’s name and teacher in the email.

An Apperson Street Elementary PTA Photography Release is needed for each student. Please review before sending your pictures for the 2020-2021 yearbook. This form is for the permission to use child’s image, name and/or school AND permission to use adult image, name, organization name, and/or title.

It’s a busy time at Apperson!  Be sure to read the Apperson PTA newsletter to stay up to date on all that is happening.  The Jog-A-Thon is just around the corner – next Friday to be exact!  Start collecting pledges now and turn in all donations by Friday, February 10th.  Friends and family can also make a donation online at www.appersonpta.com – look for the “Sponsor a Jog-A-Thoner” link at the top of the page.  Make sure to sign and return the permission slip so that your child can participate in this fun event with his/her class, regardless of the amount of donations collected.  If you would like to volunteer at this event, please return the volunteer slip – a district volunteer badge is required.

Please join us for this month’s PTA meeting on February 16 @ 8:15 am – we will be holding elections for next year’s PTA board.  We hope to see you there!

Yearbooks are on sale now – the first 50 books are going fast and will most likely be sold out by tomorrow.  The rest of the books will be sold for $25 each and include free personalization through February 24th.  It’s also time to order your Pawprints for the yearbook – we have many options to choose from!  See the flyers for all the details.

Reminders 10/5/16

Here are just a few quick reminders for this week!

  • Yearbook Committee Meeting – Thursday, October 6 @ 11:00 am in the Workroom.  Please join us if you would like to help with this year’s yearbook!  All are welcome.  We will need lots of parents to help with taking pictures, laying out pages in the book, etc.  Come learn more and find out how you can get involved.
  • 5th Grade Yearbook Cover Art – All submissions for the yearbook cover are due tomorrow. This is open to 5th graders only.  Mrs. Paige will be collecting all cover artwork tomorrow following the yearbook meeting.  Artwork will be on display at the Fall Festival on Saturday, October 15 – be sure to come and vote for your favorite one!!
  • Halloween Costume Donations – We are now collecting new/gently used Halloween costume donations.  Please drop them off at the Valet Gate on Day Street in the morning, or leave them in the office marked “PTA Fall Festival”.  All donated costumes will be for sale at the Fall Festival on Saturday, October 15 – proceeds from the sale will go to the 5th grade fund.

Join the 5th grade in their fundraising efforts by recycling your electronics on Saturday, January 23rd from 10 am to 2 pm at the Hub.  See flyer for address and accepted items.  You can also help the 5th grade “Fill the Truck” by donating gently used clothing and shoes on Friday, January 29th at Apperson.  See flyer below for more info.

Do you Shoparoo? Download the Shoparoo app and raise money for the Apperson PTA by snapping pictures of your shopping receipts.  See flyer for more details.

Do you shop at Ralphs? Please take our scanbar letter with you next time you shop and hand it to the cashier.  Register once a year for this program, and then every time you shop, a percentage will be donated to the Apperson PTA!  You can also register online by logging in to your Ralphs Rewards account.

Virtual Backpack and Updates 2/27/15

*Correction – the food trucks at Family Fun Night will be The Grilled Cheese Truck and NITROPOD (organic ice cream and sorbet).

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The deadline to turn in Paw Prints for the yearbook has been extended to March 9th.

ANNOUNCEMENT: One of the exciting items being raffled off at our Opportunity Drawing at Family Fun Night will be “Principal for the Day” for one student, which will include lunch with the principal, making morning announcements, and their own walkie talkie!  Tickets for the drawing are $10 for a sheet of 26 tickets – you can place any amount of tickets in any baskets of your choice.  The winners will be announced at Family Fun Night at 7:15 pm. You do not need to be present to win – please write your name and phone number legibly on the back of EACH ticket. Tickets will be available for purchase before and after school this week and at Family Fun Night.  Avoid the lines and purchase your tickets in advance!
