Krispy Kreme Order Pick Up Tomorrow!

Don’t forget to pick up your Krispy Kreme orders tomorrow, Thursday, December 15! We will be outside the Day Street gate (at the valet drop off) from 7:30-8:00 am and outside the auditorium/holiday show from 8:00-8:30 am. We will have a limited number of extra donuts to sell – $10 for a box of one dozen delicious glazed donuts!!! Cash only. Thank you for supporting the Apperson 5th graders!

Friday, November 4 is “Twin Day” sponsored by the Apperson Student Council.  There is also an Awards Assembly on the yard at 8 am.  Parents are welcome to attend.

5th Grade Parent Meeting


This is just a reminder that there will be a meeting for all 5th grade parents on Friday, September 30 at 8:15 am in the Parent Center to discuss the 5th grade field trip, end of the year picnic, and fundraising ideas.  If you are unable to attend, please email us at with your name, email address, student’s name, and room number so that we can send you all the information discussed.  Thank you!

Read-a-thon ends this Friday!

readathon_2We hope your students are enjoying participating in our 2nd annual Apperson PTA Read-a-thon!  Make sure you are keeping track of all minutes read on your Reading Tracker. The last day to record minutes read for the Read-a-thon is Friday, September 30.  Don’t forget to ask your friends and family to sponsor your student by making a flat donation or a donation per minute read.  You can find an email template here.  Donations are accepted by credit card through PayPal on our website at – you do NOT need a PayPal account to make a donation.  This is a great way to collect donations from out of town family and friends!   Turn in your Pledge Form, Reading Tracker, and all donations received by Wednesday, October 5.

All students who participate will receive a Read-a-thon Tiger Tag!  Everyone who reads the suggested goal for his/her grade will be entered into a raffle!  Special Reader Leader Tiger Tags for the student in each classroom with the most minutes read and the most pledges collected!

The Apperson PTA Fall Festival is coming on Saturday, October 15th!  If you or someone you know would like to have a vendor space at the festival, please contact Kali at as soon as possible to reserve your spot!  See flyer below for more information.

The 5th grade committee will be collecting crushed cans at the Fall Festival to help raise money for the 5th grade field trip!  Start saving your cans now – the first 50 people to bring at least 50 cans to the Fall Festival will receive an exclusive recycling Tiger Tag!

The Bookaneer Book Fair is here!

180119_bookaneer_book_fair_clip_art_logoThe Scholastic Book Fair is now open in the Apperson library!  Classrooms will continue to visit the fair every day this week (schedule below). Students that visit the fair but do not bring money may fill out a Book Fair Wish List.  Parents are under no obligation to purchase the products listed.  Students may return to the book fair on Monday, Sept. 12 or Tuesday, Sept. 13 during recess or lunch if they would like to make additional purchases.  If you would like your child to purchase a specific book or books when they visit the fair, please send a note and we will help them locate the book(s).  Parents may also shop the book fair at Back to School Night on Tuesday, Sept. 13 from 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm.  Don’t forget to check out our Teacher Wish Lists on display at Back to School Night to purchase a book to donate to their classroom.  Lastly, you can also shop online at – all online orders will ship direct to school for FREE when the online fair has ended.

Calling All Coins! It’s time for our annual Book Fair Penny Wars!  Every classroom will have a bucket to collect money for the All for Books campaign. Bring in your pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, and dollars! The class that collects the most money during the fair will win a party! Money collected goes directly toward books for our school, plus Scholastic will match our contribution with a donation of books to one of three non-profit literacy organizations.  Thanks again for your support!
